Past Times
Besides the auctions, Waitaki Auction Rooms is home to Past Times — our shop of old things. Same rooms, same address: you can browse the aisles, pick something up, and take it home without waiting for the hammer to fall.
The shop is packed with antiques, collectables and curiosities: china and glass, furniture, toys and dolls, vintage clothing, books and papers, military memorabilia, and plenty of odd and wonderful pieces that do not fit neatly into a catalogue.
Gerry has spent a lifetime gathering interesting and rare things from Britain, Europe and further afield. As he put it when the shop first opened in Oamaru, each piece is living history. Stock changes as items sell and new finds come in, so every visit is a bit of a treasure hunt.

Buying
Pay within 48 hours of the auction finishing. We can arrange freight, you can arrange your own, or you can collect.
Pay within 48 hours of the auction finishing. If payment has not been made, and we have not heard from you, the sale may be cancelled after that. Pay by bank transfer or card (Visa or Mastercard), as shown on your invoice.
We can arrange tracked freight nationwide, or you can arrange your own freight. Freight we arrange is quoted and invoiced separately after the lots are paid. We pack with reasonable care. Once the courier has collected the goods, any loss or damage in transit is a matter for the courier. Or you can collect from Waitaki Auction Rooms, 21 Chelmer Street, Oamaru. Please give at least 24 hours’ notice so we can have them ready.
By bidding you accept the buyer’s premium published for that sale. It is added on top of the winning bid. GST is added on the premium when the sale is taxable. The rate is shown on the auction before you bid, and it is not the same for every sale.
